Casa Lyobaa Mitla Oaxaca

It's as good as all the other reviews say. This is a special place with a lot of heart. I only wish i had booked for longer. Casa Lyobaa makes an excellent escape from Oaxaca City and feels like a world away at under an hour drive. If you are coming from Oaxaca, they recommend Carlos as a driver and he is FANTASTIC. Highly recommend his services as well.

We spent two wonderful nights in their beautiful and tranquil suite as part of our honeymoon trip to Oaxaca. I’m so glad we found this special place through Google Maps and if you’ve also been fortunate enough to discover it, book right now! The space is so carefully designed and incredibly comfortable. We really appreciated all the thoughtful touches, including the detailed information in the room with great local recommendations. We walked to the Mitla ruins and enjoyed a lovely meal at Doña Chica. Also Sylvia arrange travel for us to visit Hierve el Agua for hiking and Casa Silencio for a special dinner. We felt very connected to their story and are so grateful to have stayed here. Highly recommend!

Perfect four days at Casa Lyobaa after a hectic week in Oaxaca City. Beautiful, comfortable rooms with distinctive local artisan furnishings, lovely grounds and wonderful public spaces including kitchen, pool and veranda. We appreciated the breakfasts, our daily swims, and being able to cook dinner for our group. The location is great- walking distance to Mitla archeological site and the center of town. Paul and Sylvia are welcoming hosts and helpful in recommending and arranging excursions in the region. We loved hikes to Herve el Agua and the Caves.

Our stay at Casa Lyobaa was perfect. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. They provided a book with information about where the items in the room came from, which was a really nice touch. The property itself is stunning, and we’re sad we only stayed for one night. We also did the traditional temazcal, which was incredible. We had no idea what to expect, and it completely blew us away. We learned about the tradition and the meaning behind each part while being an active participant—highly recommend! Breakfast was great as well, and the cherry on top was that the hosts even created a map of recommendations and suggestions, which was extremely helpful.

I've been hosting group retreats here since 2018 and everyone always loves it. The atmosphere is so peaceful and there are plenty of spaces for guests to enjoy time either together or solo. We especially love spending time in the big palapa. Communication with the hosts Sylvia and Paul is always so smooth! A great option if you want to experience the Oaxaca's vast nature, archeological sites, food and mezcal, in a slower pueblo setting.

Casa Lyobaa is an exceptional little inn. Tucked up into the corner of the town, it's tranquil, serene, elegant and deluxe, without being pretentious or expensive. Lovely details in artwork, furniture, bedding, etc. Rooms are gorgeous, the grounds are quiet and lush for a high-and-dry climate, and breakfast was the best we had during a few weeks in Mexico. A perfect 5 minute walk into the center of town/archaelogical sites.

This is the most beautiful, comfortable and special hotel I’ve ever stayed in. All the gorgeous natural fibers in the rooms and common areas feel both luxurious and comforting. The pool and other outdoor areas are stunningly beautiful and promote a feeling of relaxation. The hosts’ recommendations were spot on and helped us see the area and learn about the crafts and culture without wasting precious vacation time. Breakfast was delicious and nourishing. We also had a very special temazcal led by Sylvia which we are grateful for. Everything was perfect. The hotel is a very short walk to the heart of Mitla, which is vibrant, lovely and delicious. Casa Lyobee was a real highlight of our trip to Oaxaca.

My wife and I spent an amazing time at Casa Lyobaa. We stayed in the lovely Candelabro Suite and we absolutely loved the view of the mountains and the sounds of the birds from the rooftop terrace. The people are very kind and welcoming and we loved the quesillo and beans for breakfast! Thank you to the Casa Lyobaa team. We hope to see you again.
